Vichi increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 27 minutes. The players of Freshi now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. Freshi enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

Content with how the game was proceeding, the Freshi coach let P. Rafalski replace K. Baghouli after 70 minutes. Freshi's R. Fetto swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. The Freshi players could smell victory in the air. H. Rinta-aho wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for D. Merlini after 75 minutes. R. Fetto wanted to play on, but the Freshi coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 80 minutes into the game by M. Boisrame. M. Boisrame could have put Freshi up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 82 minutes. After 83 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by Freshi was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options. M. Boisrame had a fantastic opportunity to put Freshi up another goal 87 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. Freshi almost scored after a counterattack 89 minutes into the match, but F. Vichi took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net. Freshi had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

Freshi's top performer was clearly C. Heierling. On the other hand, M. Vendola's play was disheartening. S. Sterkrade performed admirably for LASJ. However, A. Vieira made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 0.
