A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 24994 to
St-Aff stadium.
Gerfried Kühnreich was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Notger Dueckert and
Sylvestre Zetterström.
St-aff started off with a 4-3-3 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Simon - Aase, Sovero, Rinnooy Kan, Canevet - Klenczner, Cohen, Courtial - Mpaxevanatos, Stahlman, Jasionowski.
zyva decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Andrade - Pettersson, Ylätupa, Pukrop - Vitrant, Gigot, Céspedes, Ostrzycki, Boucheron - Emili, Domingo.
St-aff clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of zyva.
R. Emili gave the visitors the lead 7 minutes into the match to make it 0 - 1. The goal was scored from the penalty spot after a handball in the penalty area.
St-aff put pressure on the visitors' central defence 11 minutes into the game, but
B. Courtial couldn't find an opening.
St-aff's counterattacks created a good chance for
U. Stahlman on the right after 21 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar.
It was 0 - 1 at the break.
zyva claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.
After 57 minutes of play,
H. Sovero equalised for St-aff after an elegant attack from the right.
Slack defending gave St-aff a chance to take the lead with 66 minutes played, but
P. Jasionowski's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition.
After 70 minutes, the zyva coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
N. Domingo off the field.
C. Dallet took his place.
It wasn't a good day at all for
A. Ylätupa. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day.
As the 80 minute mark approached, the zyva coach decided it was time for a substitution.
T. Boucheron reluctantly made way for
E. Kormány on the pitch.
The fierce heat made it important to save breath, and after a few swift runs
H. Sovero found it hard to get back into position.
The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of zyva's
J. Vitrant after 81 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 1 - 2 lead.
After 83 minutes,
Y. Mpaxevanatos made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 2 - 2.
Possession in this half belonged to zyva, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.
Most important St-aff player was
M. Klenczner.
H. Sovero on the other hand, had a terrible day.
É. Gigot performed admirably for zyva.
However,
E. Kormány made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 2 - 2.
