Clear skies welcomed the 38732 spectators who had made their way to
Stade de la mine.
Ruben Sardinha was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Niclas Kamp and
Bengt Bengtsson.
Chalmoux started off with a 2-5-3 lineup.
Starters: Raats - Lesonen, Siegmund - Beaufrère, Giardulli, Goudiaby, Bareis, Ginestet - Gabriel, Iapăscurtă, Hesse.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Samouraï.
The following players had been chosen: Curcean - Suljaković, Piedade, Tarhouni - Bidal, Vilk, Barrenechea, Chaparo, Vaslin - Geneste, Stegmeier.
Chalmoux used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings.
For their match strategy, Samouraï had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
Chalmoux had a chance to take the lead after
M. Giardulli's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 33 minutes.

A. Bidal gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 37 minutes with a superb strike from the right.
In a well-rehearsed move, Chalmoux delivered a free kick into the box which
Y. Goudiaby, soaring majestically above the defence, rose to head home to make the score 1 - 1.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
H. Vaslin from Samouraï a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 39 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
After 40 minutes,
H. Lesonen came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving Chalmoux the lead.
It was 2 - 1 at the break.
Chalmoux enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 66 percent of possession.
S. Ginestet unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.
Samouraï were able to draw a foul with their counterattacks, but the shot from
T. Stegmeier went into the arms of the keeper.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Chalmoux scored another to make it 3 - 1 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
N. Hesse after 60 minutes.
After 65 minutes a very unfortunate collision in the penalty area led to Samouraï's
R. Suljaković being carried off the pitch and replaced by
F. Gaspard.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 69 minutes, Chalmoux tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish.
Chalmoux were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally.
Cheers filled the stadium as
N. Hesse broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 1 to Chalmoux.
Chalmoux players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead.
Chalmoux solidified their lead at the 72 minute mark, as
S. Gabriel dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 1.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Chalmoux, with 66 percent of the ball.
M. Iapăscurtă performed admirably for Chalmoux.
F. Beaufrère turned in a dismal performance, however.
Samouraï's top performer was clearly
T. Stegmeier.
F. Gaspard was a disappointment, however.
