07-07-2012 21.10
17634 punters turned up at
BCR Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Domagoj Šimurina was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Morris Gullit and
Atle Kjeldsberg.
BCR77 decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Wanstetten - Bucur, Berckemeyer, Villeret - Debray, Bedi, Évrard, Wolki, Kersche - Gardyński, Valdés.
belle started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
They fielded: Gelissen - Galbrun, Grofcsik, Andolsi - Badea, Dubois, Terrazo, Diarra, Marchant - Péneau, O'Callaghan.
BCR77 were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
belle used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings.
20 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
I. Péneau, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide.
It might be a while before the fans see belle's
I. Péneau again, after he had to leave the field in great distress at the 23 minute mark. He was replaced by
M. Dourthe.
BCR77 could have put themselves ahead after 33 minutes but
C. Valdés missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
O. Berckemeyer from BCR77 a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 36 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
BCR77 took the lead 43 minutes in, as
A. Évrard broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0.
Possession in this half belonged to BCR77, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.
A free kick just outside of the visitors' penalty area after 69 minutes could have resulted in another goal, but
W. Gelissen got a hand out and tipped the ball over the bar.
With 75 minutes played, the belle coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
M. Le Dain came on,
M. Terrazo had to leave the fray.
L. Marchant became the new belle captain.
After 77 minutes, BCR77's
D. Kersche found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick. 2 - 0.
O. Berckemeyer wanted to play on, but the BCR77 coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 80 minutes into the game by
H. Descals.
M. Le Dain's lack of experience almost gave BCR77 a goal after 81 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms.
It was obvious that BCR77 had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
BCR77 managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when
G. Bucur cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
Confident in their lead, BCR77's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
BCR77 claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.
The most dominating BCR77 player was without a doubt
G. Bedi.
H. Descals was a disappointment, however.
X. Dubois performed admirably for belle.
On the other hand,
C. Galbrun's play was disheartening.
The match ends 3 - 0.
