18046 spectators had come to
Petit-Appeville stadium this cloudy day.
Ðuro Pekota was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Elad Gal and
Kylian van der Holst.
Petit-Appeville tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Valtorta - Bassene, Arcione, Grundeis, Van Gheluwe - Borggard, Carr, Élineau, Caillaud - Beygo, Rayadi.
IntoTheWild.. decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Bäckström - Uddwald, Tsirilidis, Stien - Cybulski, Rappmann, Foubert, Bielinski, Kotovenko - Lukkaroinen, Roux.
2 minutes into the game,
P. Cybulski had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide.
The referee showed IntoTheWild..'s
R. Kotovenko the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
N. Rayadi, but the Petit-Appeville player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
O. Tsirilidis of IntoTheWild.. received a yellow card after 30 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
32 minutes into the game,
M. Caillaud had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
K. Neuss.
The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 33 minutes,
R. Kotovenko broke through the centre and found himself alone with the keeper.
G. Valtorta made a great block, though.
Petit-Appeville's
D. Van Gheluwe was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 37 minutes.
IntoTheWild.. were close to putting the equaliser away after 42 minutes as the opposing defence lost control of the ball to
M. Stien in a scuffle towards the left of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the dead ball line.
1 - 0 was the score after the first half.
IntoTheWild.. enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.
After 62 minutes, IntoTheWild.. switched
A. Lukkaroinen with
T. Fel, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
As the game started to slip away for IntoTheWild.., the manager decided to change the tactical approach.
T. Fel came close to levelling the score 75 minutes into the game, as he was set up with a through ball coming in from the left, but his shot hit the post.
Petit-Appeville increased the lead as
S. Grundeis struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
By now, the players in Petit-Appeville felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
A scuffle developed as players from both sides clashed following a tussle in the centre of the field 79 minutes into the match. After regaining order and consulting his linesman, the referee called IntoTheWild..'s
M. Stien to one side and produced a red card for the player.
IntoTheWild.. claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
Petit-Appeville's top performer was clearly
N. Rayadi.
K. Neuss was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating IntoTheWild.. player was without a doubt
S. Bielinski.
However,
O. Tsirilidis made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 2 - 0.
