Grinden came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of L. Zoumpoulis. lOlympique created a good opportunity to score 35 minutes into the match when M. Jibotean's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. lOlympique had a chance to take the lead after P. Figueras made way for C. Adam. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, FFC's F. Quennehen was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 60 minutes. A. Zanardi was given a chance to change things around. After 68 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by S. Belyaninov might have resulted in another goal for lOlympique. However, L. Zoumpoulis made a spectacular save. With 72 minutes played, T. Grinden could have brought this one home for lOlympique as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. 73 minutes in, FFC's A. Juan Zuaza received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. lOlympique were forced into a substitution as M. Jibotean couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing S. Godefroy to come in off the bench. lOlympique had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.
