Clouds darkened the skies at Le Stadium as 10955 spectators turned up for the match. Mich Schmit was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Per Kvåle and Adrián Hajszán. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to A. Şahin, but the Brothers player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! A well placed corner kick from T. Rose was followed by J. Mistiaen's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Aix, the score now 1 - 1. 31 minutes into the game, Brothers seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a weak level of organisation. It was 1 - 1 at the break. Possession in this half belonged to Brothers, who controlled the ball 54 percent of the time.

The Brothers players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a solid organisation when the game started again. Good work by the Aix defensive line after 50 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found J. Walter alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. After 57 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Brothers found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to passable. B. Militello showed why he is feared on the counterattack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for Aix after 73 minutes to make the score 1 - 2. Aix's E. Bauer was shown a yellow card after 77 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The referee showed Aix's C. Samnøy the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 82 minutes into the game, Brothers seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. 87 minutes in, Brothers's L. Fragoso received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Aix's H. Wondel went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. Brothers claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.

Brothers's top performer was clearly A. Şahin. A. Gallitognotta turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Aix player was B. Militello. G. Grosso was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
