previous 2/4 next 4/4  bakalai 3 - 0 Paris (386209668)

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 12000 that came out to chaban-bakalai. Adir Ambar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Helge Lauch and David Robinson. People from all over Île-de-France had joined up for the derby. bakalai had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Froidefond - Lévêque, Dugast, Turquet, Narbonne - Godet, Dieng, Bigot, Granet - Raymond, Roussin.

Paris decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. The following players took the field: Canitrot - Drugeon, Carpentier, Payet, Dauphin - Biteau, Savignat, Trichet, Eynard - Defosse, Delannoy.

It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why V. Bigot found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. After 40 minutes of play, S. Dieng gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. After 41 minutes bakalai's B. Turquet limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. After 42 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and V. Bigot gave the bakalai supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0. bakalai claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.

Paris certainly deserved a goal after some stunning play down the left, but A. Savignat just wasn't able to finish. bakalai's C. Granet has the wonderful ability to create chances out of thin air. 78 minutes into the match he bamboozled a couple of opposition defenders before sending the keeper the wrong way and sidefooting the ball home into an empty net. That totally unexpected burst of flair made it 3 - 0. With 83 minutes played, E. Roussin could have brought this one home for bakalai as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. Possession in this half belonged to bakalai, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.

The most dominating bakalai player was without a doubt S. Dieng. On the other hand, C. Froidefond's play was disheartening. S. Defosse performed admirably for Paris. A. Canitrot turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 0.
