previous 9/10 next 1/10  SLB 2 - 2 Portucale (386241887)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 57179 at Estádio da Luz today. Per Lönnhult was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Håkon Woll and Leo Gâlcã. Everyone was excited about the upcoming Porto - Grande Porto derby and the crowd was divided evenly. SLB decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Mottin - Lupescu, Buzilo, Rashid - Silva, Magalhães, Dumanowski, Repolho, Werner - Eckerstorfer, Coroado.

Portucale tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Picanço - Cascais, Neves Ferreira, Straßenfeld - Lemming, Porto e Melo, Guilhermo, Garcia, Madalena - Ernesto, Fischbek.

Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 18 minutes into the match, and O. Fischbek wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Portucale coach let G. Catanzaro replace O. Fischbek after 19 minutes. P. Lemming was handed the Portucale captain's armband. In the lead, Portucale adjusted their style of play with 19 minutes gone. The corner kick from A. Rashid was powerfully met by the head of A. Werner to make the score 1 - 1. SLB's A. Werner was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box - J. Coroado managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 2 - 1 after 31 minutes. J. Dumanowski could have increased the lead after 35 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. 37 minutes into the game, C. Ernesto had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Ş. Teodorescu. Portucale's P. Lemming excelled in some fine tricks that completely confused S. Repolho - and the finish was no less spectacular - 2 - 2! It was 2 - 2 at the break. Portucale claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

As the 55 minute mark approached, the SLB coach decided it was time for a substitution. J. Mottin reluctantly made way for R. Flügler on the pitch. With 69 minutes gone, J. Dumanowski suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by SLB caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. 75 minutes into the game, SLB wanted to bring some new energy to their game. J. Coroado gave K. Krismer a quick hug as he left the field. Portucale had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

SLB's top performer was clearly P. Eckerstorfer. A. Silva on the other hand, had a terrible day. M. Garcia performed admirably for Portucale. P. Lemming turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 2.
