previous 2/4 next 4/4  Esférico 3 - 1 Samurais (386253935)

The 42281 fans in attendance at Palco dos Sonhos were roasting in the hot sun. Abdullah Konuk was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Magnus Solberg and Gabriel Sintra. People from all over Setúbal - Margem Sul had joined up for the derby. Esférico tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Frisella - Capossela, Bloemen, Bender - Lulić, Domini, Lee, Kutner, Van Overloop - Gomes, de Jesus.

Samurais decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. They fielded: Aparicio Pérez - Kreft, Sykes, Javanainen - Fröhbrodt, Hagman, Ash, Lindholm - Chamorra, Tambornino, Spínola.

It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why J. Lee found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. Samurais had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 13 minutes in when F. Chamorra came up alone against N. Frisella who managed a block. After a fine move down the middle Y. Bloemen nearly gave the home side a goal after 17 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. Esférico fans held their breath as I. Gomes scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! Esférico's D. Lulić had an excellent opportunity after 24 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! It was 1 - 0 at the break. Possession in this half belonged to Esférico, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

C. Domini found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat. The visitors didn't give in and, after 50 minutes, F. Tambornino got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 1 - 1. With 60 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 2 - 1 lead as K. Van Overloop flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. With 66 minutes played, Esférico put themselves up 3 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to C. Domini, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. 69 minutes into the game, P. Hagman had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came G. Ochakovskiy. Samurais's L. Kreft left the field after 70 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was N. Andorinho. Esférico had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.

Esférico's best player was I. Gomes. A. Capossela turned in a dismal performance, however. Samurais's top performer was clearly F. Tambornino. However, G. Ochakovskiy made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 1.
