Bajić elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. 32 minutes into the game STR managed a counterattack, but A. Lapidot took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Borges, with 61 percent of the ball.

Cheers filled the stadium as A. Tommei broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to STR. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Borges's B. Zornack somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for E. Toppmöller, who struck for 2 - 1. M. Judite's name was chanted throughout the stadium after he made a fantastic save from E. Toppmöller's shot from the left 74 minutes into the match. STR had a great opportunity to score following a counterattack after 84 minutes, but R. Jares's shot from the left sailed high over the bar. Borges had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.

STR's top performer was clearly D. Gatti Perer. However, T. Cisneros made a disastrous appearance. Borges's best player was B. Wakenitzufer. R. Cunha turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 1.
