27000 spectators had come to BES Stadium this cloudy day. Gary Woodward was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rafael Marcé and Matyáš Linka. Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this Aveiro derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents. LargAbola had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation. They fielded: Andersen - Jagalla, Serter, Bonorino, Barroso, Fragale - Latorre, Pieneman, Minculescu - Kops, Davis.

Extreme started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Lineup: Virapin - von Mühlenen, Öztan, Hugenschmidt, Kos - Ollinen, Alcázar, Kittler, Rauvola - Sousa Correia, Lindahl.

Extreme were relying on their ability to counter-attack. LargAbola had a good opportunity to take the lead as D. Latorre came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of N. Virapin. N. von Mühlenen knocked one home from a counterattack down the right wing, making the score 0 - 1 after 12 minutes. With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 13 minutes gave LargAbola a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and W. Kops stepped up to the challenge. 1 - 1 Extreme's O. Rauvola left the field after 24 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was M. Rechter. After a fine move down the middle H. Davis nearly gave the home side a goal after 27 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. Extreme's M. Öztan had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 35 minutes having been played. F. Porte was the replacement. LargAbola's E. Jagalla got himself booked for a foul. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. LargAbola enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 74 percent of possession.

Making his way up the middle 46 minutes into the match, T. Barroso almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert N. Virapin blocked it to keep the score level. LargAbola fans held their breath as P. Bonorino scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 2 - 1! The LargAbola free kick 72 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of W. Kops, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 3 - 1! LargAbola claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 71 percent.

LargAbola's top performer was clearly E. Andersen. On the other hand, D. Fragale's play was disheartening. E. Lindahl performed admirably for Extreme. F. Porte was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 1.
