It had rained all day, but 12615 hardy fans still made it out to
Viper F.C..
Kornel Wezel was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Dominik Śmieja and
Olav Distel.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Viper.
The following players took the field: Nieddu - Pires Lopes, Mašanović, Ovyn, Riether - Costa Nascimento, Martínez de Porras, Kuttor, Huarte - Shmaryahu, Medeot.
Torpedo started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Starters: Lacasa - Oncioiu, Ripollés, Natali - Weßel, Karlsen, Tønnesen, Sinioja, Laidet - Lundquist, Bircsák.
V. Kuttor didn't let the weather get him down and made some great moves on the pitch in spite of the rain.
The guests took the lead 27 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
S. Karlsen scoring to make it 0 - 1.
Torpedo's
H. Tønnesen had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 35 minutes having been played.
A. Ribeiro was the replacement.
The home crowd cheered when, after 36 minutes,
N. Bircsák's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
Viper's
V. Kuttor left the field after 38 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
A. Mohammad Sharifi.
After 39 minutes of game time,
T. Lundquist had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but
G. Nieddu was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1.
Torpedo had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.
The visitors'
T. Lundquist took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 47 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Torpedo.
55 minutes into the match,
A. Ribeiro came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
After 62 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
T. Laidet a chance to increase the lead for Torpedo, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3.
The players of Torpedo now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 71 minutes, Torpedo tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish.
Torpedo's
N. Bircsák was shown a yellow card after 74 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
In a fantastic display of determination, Viper's
E. Costa Nascimento forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down.
R. Huarte spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch.
T. Lundquist came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
G. Nieddu but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
Torpedo enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.
Most important Viper player was
Y. Ovyn.
E. Costa Nascimento turned in a dismal performance, however.
Torpedo's top performer was clearly
M. Natali.
A. Ribeiro on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 0 - 3.
