A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 33330 to
1º de Março.
Johan Larsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Marcos Trespuentes and
Ronald Gonzales.
S.C.Montezêlo decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Zalisz - Jeleń, Salinas, Stöckli - Blanchard, Lamon, Duarte, Câncio, Andrés Álvaro - Alapiha, Edbratt.
desporting tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Lineup: Garcia Pereira - Krajnik, Linet, Martins - De Ronzi, Fazzini, van der Brand, Guilherme, Bellaspiga - Bengtsson, Legeay.
S.C.Montezêlo saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
It was an obvious ambition of desporting to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of desporting's
N. Bengtsson after 4 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead.
S. Legeay's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some breathtaking tricks that bamboozled the defence.
With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 24 minutes gave S.C.Montezêlo a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and
K. Edbratt stepped up to the challenge. 1 - 1
After 25 minutes, desporting's
F. Guilherme made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 1 - 2.
After 28 minutes of play,
T. Alapiha equalised for S.C.Montezêlo after an elegant attack from the right.
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 2.
Possession in this half belonged to S.C.Montezêlo, who controlled the ball 64 percent of the time.
47 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
N. Bengtsson, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide.
S.C.Montezêlo broke through on the left 58 minutes into the game, with
E. Câncio firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 3 - 2 lead.
S.C.Montezêlo had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of S.C.Montezêlo to 4 - 2 as
K. Edbratt finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
desporting came close to narrowing the gap when
F. Guilherme's free kick nearly made it past the outstretched hands of
P. Zalisz after 83 minutes.
S.C.Montezêlo enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 71 percent of possession.
S.C.Montezêlo's best player was
P. Duarte.
