Dark skies made the crowd of 12000 at Estádio da Luz a little nervous, but the rain held off. Jonas Beumkes was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Nicholas Harrison and Wiljo Verwoerd. Possession in this half belonged to Benfica, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.

F. Freitas Sá got left behind when Benfica's J. Geluk made a sudden run forward after 49 minutes, finishing off with a neat strike. 3 - 1! M. Muha made a brilliant save 65 minutes into the match, blocking a rocket of a shot from A. Moinho on the right hand side. Benfica's B. Holden swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. Benfica had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

Benfica's top performer was clearly J. Geluk. E. Coval was a disappointment, however. MEDros7's best player was A. Lopičević. M. Almeida Gomes turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 1.
