7000 fans braved the pouring rain at
Porto - Ave e Tâmega Stadium.
Amaury Lemière was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Stephen Gandy and
Břetislav Masař.
Tâmega started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Lineup: Pedrosa - Espinheira, Fachada, Borges, Deserto - Mascarenhas, Arroio, Paiva, Tavares - Carregal, Deserto.
Lisbon had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
Starters: Amendoeira - Alves, Torres, Bravo, Lemos - da Fonseca, Bidarra, Pragana, Noya - Marchante, Vaz Martins.
Lisbon took the lead after 3 minutes making the score 0 - 1.
I. Torres placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left.
The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but
R. Paiva showed great heart and had a good game.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
H. Tavares from Tâmega a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 37 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
38 minutes into the game,
J. Pedrosa had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
R. Caria.
40 minutes in, Tâmega's
R. Paiva received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Lisbon, as
H. Marchante left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
S. Barreirinha took his place on the field.
It was 0 - 1 at the break.
Tâmega enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.
With the clock showing 62 minutes played,
R. Espinheira equalised for Tâmega after curling a free kick around the defensive wall to make the score 1 - 1.
With 63 minutes played,
S. Barreirinha of Lisbon fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
J. Lemos still has a lot to learn. For instance, he should know not to make half-hearted passes in front of
A. Mascarenhas, who easily scored for Tâmega, making it 2 - 1.
H. Tavares had a fantastic opportunity to put Tâmega up another goal 74 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
Tâmega claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 65 percent.
M. Borges performed admirably for Tâmega.
However,
R. Paiva made a disastrous appearance.
Lisbon's top performer was clearly
É. Bravo.
J. Lemos was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 1.
