Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 47814 at KALESITA STADIUM today. Iwan van Ardenne was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Agustín Fernández Espartero and Robert-Jan van den Muijsenberg. Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this Asunción derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents. kalesita started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Ivarsson - Rubin, Pino, Babo - Pławiak, Olsson, Brieba, Achondo, Agronomenko - Gonzalez, Caballero.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Champañera. Starters: Baart - Maniaci, Arbergen, Siena - Zárraga, Willisen, García de Zuñiga, Farías, Paladini - Allione, Rijnsewijn.

The wings were the focus of most of kalesita's attacks today. The terraces were silenced after 15 minutes when Champañera's R. Zárraga put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave P. Gonzalez from kalesita a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 23 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! C. Farías received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 24 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Champañera fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The home side worked hard to get through the middle and as a result, had a good chance of getting one back as A. Pino tried lifting the ball over keeper G. Baart. Unfortunately, the ball went just over the bar. With 31 minutes played, R. Arbergen nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. 0 - 2 was the score after the first half. Champañera enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.

Attacking on the wings was the choice for kalesita, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. A marvellous kalesita effort on the right-hand side resulted in a goal after 48 minutes by V. Agronomenko, making the score 1 - 2. P. Paladini of Champañera took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 70 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 3. The visitors' A. García de Zuñiga took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 76 minutes into the match. 1 - 4 for Champañera. After 77 minutes, Champañera's R. Zárraga burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 5. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Champañera lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Champañera made it 1 - 6 as A. García de Zuñiga got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to P. Paladini who whipped a low drive in off the far post. Champañera claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 62 percent.

Most important kalesita player was I. Caballero. A. Pino was a disappointment, however. Champañera's top performer was clearly R. Zárraga. A. García de Zuñiga on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 6.
