12000 punters turned up at
Bedok Police FC Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Graciano Coronel was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Casper Biehl and
Frank North.
Police started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: bin Ib Berahim - bin Aziz, Chin Li, 祥伟 (Xiangwei), Hock Hao - bin Che Omar, 光超 (Guangchao) , Kim Wei, Ping De - 偌琳 (Ruolin), Wan Tse.
Supernova decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Starters: Cheng Kuan - Quai, Hao Min, Wun, Mohd Sahar - Safiuddin, Choon Kwang, Poon, Tong Sze - Guang Shi, Li.
L. Wun received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 3 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
15 minutes into the game,
Z. Ping De had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
A. bin Jamil.
T. Wan Tse gave Police the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Police scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
C. Kim Wei after 37 minutes.
Ater 39 minutes
C. Guang Shi seized on an opportunistic attack from the right, and scored for Supernova making it 2 - 1.
The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 42 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but
N. bin Ib Berahim got the best of it, blocking the shot from
Y. Tong Sze.
The score became 3 - 1 at 44 minutes into the game, when Police were given a penalty which
T. bin Aziz blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance!
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
T. Wan Tse from Police a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 44 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
It was 3 - 1 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to Police, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.
Supernova's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 51 minutes gone, but
Y. Tong Sze's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper.
Supernova breathed new life into the game with an opportunity to reduce the score after 63 minutes, but the home side's defenders cleared the ball on the line, after a long shot coming in from the left rebounded off the crossbar.
Police had to make a substitution after 68 minutes.
L. Chin Li limped off the field and was replaced by
秦. 景阳 (Jingyang).
72 minutes into the match
T. bin Aziz put Police ahead 4 - 1 with a truly marvelous free kick.
After 75 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
蔡. 光超 (Guangchao) gave the Police supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 1.
The players of Police now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Police's
A. Hock Hao increasing the lead to 6 - 1.
Supernova's
A. Poon got himself booked for a foul.
After 81 minutes,
I. Quai replied with a fantastic free kick and the ball went in off the bar. 6 - 2.
Police enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.
范. 偌琳 (Ruolin) performed admirably for Police.
N. bin Ib Berahim turned in a dismal performance, however.
Supernova's top performer was clearly
R. Li.
F. Cheng Kuan was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 6 - 2.
