It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 48936 that came out to Auburn Arena. Melvin Weihsmann was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Edward Currier and Orestes Schiavi. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave R. Kemppi from TFC a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 4 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! After 23 minutes, a well-worked counterattack by Spuraholics on the right presented an easy opportunity in front of the goal that was duly converted by P. Boffelli to make it 1 - 1. It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why C. Ashley found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. Spuraholics's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing D. Collados to score easily from the right flank for 1 - 2. TFC had to make a substitution after 42 minutes. B. Herbord limped off the field and was replaced by O. Altares. 1 - 2 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to TFC, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.

With 47 minutes played, TFC's T. Havers found an opening in the visitors' left side defence, but his shot was handled easily by the keeper. N. Laterveer didn't pace himself at all, and after a series of daring offensive runs he was too tired to help out in the defensive play. TFC's M. Zappalà made an attempt at equalising 55 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound. After 65 minutes, P. Governini got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away. K. Jeffery charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equaliser for TFC, but the shot went well wide of the goal. Spuraholics's C. Filosa was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 78 minutes. TFC enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.

The most dominating TFC player was without a doubt K. Jeffery. O. Altares on the other hand, had a terrible day. Spuraholics's top performer was clearly D. Collados. N. Laterveer was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
