previous 8/10 next 10/10  Remnant 7 - 0 Headhunters (386976709)

The crowd of 30905 turning up at The Fortress today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Onni Hölsä was the appointed referee. All of Western Australia was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby. Remnant started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Clifford - Merkofer, Ristić, Hagen - Saka, Jones, Gómez de Bonilla, Coratto, Stankovic - Rajski, Frankowski.

Headhunters tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Dave - Pawłaszek, Hem, Kordas, Dehondt - Poteralski, Auer, Geel, Diodati - Rodríguez, Murillo.

Headhunters demonstrated their creative tactics on the field. Remnant broke through on the left 9 minutes into the game, with A. Saka firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Remnant's F. Rajski increasing the lead to 2 - 0. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Remnant to 3 - 0 as J. Hagen finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Confident in their lead, Remnant's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. The muddy pitch made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit P. Gómez de Bonilla just fine. After 37 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and D. Stankovic gave the Remnant supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 0. Remnant managed to extend their lead to 5 - 0 when J. Hagen cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. The teams went for the halftime break at 5 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Remnant, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.

With 75 minutes played, Remnant put themselves up 6 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to A. Saka, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. D. Stankovic increased the lead for Remnant to 7 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Remnant enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.

P. Jones performed admirably for Remnant. On the other hand, P. Coratto's play was disheartening. The most dominating Headhunters player was without a doubt O. Murillo. J. Hem was a disappointment, however. The match ends 7 - 0.
