Yugoslavia had a good opportunity to take the lead as B. Ruiz came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of H. Saavedra. With 70 minutes gone, M. Silini suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by SVK caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a SVK substitution. C. Marqués came on for R. Škoro. W.
