Steffan 1 - 1 Juggernauts
(386978179)

12-08-2012 04.00
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 26769 to
Steffan Bros Arena.
Luca Fortunato was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jörgen Åhlér and
Santiago Delgado.
Steffan tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Zecchino - Huysuz, Trouillet, Liiv - Monzita, Wilmink, Tröster, Hainl, Mendonça - Davey, Krymskiy.
Juggernauts had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Starters: Grandgirard - Anquetil, Leonardsson, Hilton - Porcel Aguirre, Clarke, Tiatto, Wispelaere, Richter - Albino, Ayala.
Steffan immediately set off using their skill at pressing their opponents.
The wings were the focus of most of Juggernauts's attacks today.
After a fine move down the middle
E. Monzita nearly gave the home side a goal after 8 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide.
Steffan's
J. Tröster had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 20 minutes having been played.
K. Hadlee was the replacement.
Steffan pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times.
A mistake by the home side's central defence after 37 minutes allowed
J. Richter to score for Juggernauts. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1.
With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 38 minutes gave Steffan a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and
A. Krymskiy stepped up to the challenge. 1 - 1
40 minutes in, Juggernauts's
K. Clarke received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Steffan were forced into a substitution as
M. Wilmink couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing
B. Wong to come in off the bench.
Halftime score was 1 - 1.
Juggernauts had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.
Steffan could have put themselves ahead after 58 minutes but
T. Liiv missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right.
It was obvious that Juggernauts had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
N. Wispelaere had a good opportunity to give Juggernauts the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save.
The guests almost went up by a goal after 64 minutes when
C. Albino came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
H. Ayala from Juggernauts a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 67 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
L. Zecchino of Steffan had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game.
D. Lungu came in to finish the match.
Steffan had a good opportunity to take the lead as
K. Hadlee came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of
A. Grandgirard.
Juggernauts enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.
Steffan's best player was
A. Krymskiy.
D. Lungu turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating Juggernauts player was without a doubt
H. Ayala.
K. Clarke on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 1 - 1.
