previous 6/10 next 8/10  Cucamonga 3 - 0 Devils (386978320)

The crowd of 35692 turning up at Juande Wonder Memorial Park today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Cyprian Studziński was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Risto Huusko and Udo Wedekind. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Cucamonga. Lineup: Diggles - Oancea, Bakshi, Kalivatsis - Karnowski, Paterski, Lenart, Näther, Fernaz - Bower, Galuvao.

Devils decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Rostorp - Iturmendi, Carcatella, van Elp - Denezhkina, Emdur, Villaruel, Doohan, Rosti - Game, Veronesi.

Priding himself in being an active coach, the Devils manager gave new instructions to his players after 1 minutes. After 3 minutes, L. Galuvao came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Cucamonga the lead. The rain made it hard for players like D. Carcatella to show their technical control of the ball on this soggy day. G. Paterski really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by G. Fernaz after a corner. G. Paterski increased the lead for Cucamonga to 2 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! After this, you could see that the players of Cucamonga were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. It was 2 - 0 at the break. Cucamonga claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.

L. Bower wanted to play on, but the Cucamonga coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 55 minutes into the game by M. Foxworth. The Cucamonga coach was visibly pleased with the score so far, but still ordered a few tactical changes 55 minutes into the game. After 55 minutes, the Cucamonga players received new instructions from their manager on how to keep in control of the game. The Cucamonga free kick 62 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of M. Foxworth, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 3 - 0! L. Galuvao of Cucamonga was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. M. Foxworth spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch. Cucamonga had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.

Cucamonga's top performer was clearly L. Galuvao. However, M. Foxworth made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Devils player was without a doubt M. Iturmendi. L. Denezhkina was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 0.
