It had rained all day, but 30333 hardy fans still made it out to
SBS Super Dome.
Jef Clause was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Adam Robu and
Lorenz Friedrich.
A 4-3-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Allstars.
Starters: Priske - Mateus, Kulodzik, Neto, Diaz - Ciata, Van Thielen, Sidenhult - Domínguez Palma, Huvinen, Thomasberg.
Devils started off with a 4-5-1 lineup.
Lineup: Rostorp - Iturmendi, Carcatella, Sutcliffe, van Elp - Denezhkina, Emdur, Villaruel, Doohan, Chambers - Veronesi.
Allstars tried to focus their attacks down the middle.
The coach of Devils wanted to try to change things around after 1 minutes, and gave new tactical instructions.
R. Priske looked great 15 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors'
D. Carcatella.
Making his way up the middle 34 minutes into the match,
K. Thomasberg almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
M. Rostorp blocked it to keep the score level.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Devils, with 53 percent of the ball.
B. Domínguez Palma hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving Allstars's
T. Ciata an easy chance to knock it in for 1 - 0.
Allstars's
V. Neto struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 2 - 0 after 75 minutes.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Allstars lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
After 81 minutes, Devils's
N. Sutcliffe fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
Ater 83 minutes
L. Denezhkina seized on an opportunistic attack from the right, and scored for Devils making it 2 - 1.
E. Emdur made a run for the goal 87 minutes into the game but the home team's left back managed to sort the situation out in the end.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
A. Kulodzik from Allstars a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 88 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Allstars players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead.
Cheers filled the stadium as
A. Kulodzik broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 1 to Allstars.
Devils had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.
B. Domínguez Palma performed admirably for Allstars.
M. Diaz turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important Devils player was
C. Villaruel.
However,
M. Rostorp made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 3 - 1.
