Glenelg mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
After a fine move down the middle
A. De Corte nearly gave the home side a goal after 3 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide.
Clapham's
D. Velev tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
Making his way up the middle 21 minutes into the match,
T. Morgado almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
M. Bäumle blocked it to keep the score level.
A. Ruda enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again.
Clapham had a good opportunity to take the lead as
L. Franz came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of
M. Bäumle.
T. Morgado caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 36 minutes. This gave Clapham the 1 - 0 lead.
P. Flejsborg was called on to replace Glenelg's
邰. 安成 (Ancheng) after 37 minutes following a nasty collision.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0.
Possession in this half belonged to Clapham, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.
51 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
E. van der Bergh broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Clapham.
The visitors got one back when
L. Bovy finished off a pass from the left and scored after 57 minutes. 2 - 1 was the score.
A. Ruda could have put Clapham up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 66 minutes.
The fierce heat made it important to save breath, and after a few swift runs
J. Valdivia found it hard to get back into position.
A. De Corte increased the lead for Clapham to 3 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
Clapham had most of the ball, with 69 percent of possession.
A. Ruda performed admirably for Clapham.
However,
H. Salinas made a disastrous appearance.
Glenelg's top performer was clearly
L. Bovy.
J. Valdivia was a disappointment, however.
