The Bri 7 - 0 Sydney
(386984716)

15-07-2012 04.00
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 41259 to
Collins Park.
Juhani Mustonen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Verneri Kukkonen and
Gwylan Linneman.
Everyone was excited about the upcoming
New South Wales derby and the crowd was divided evenly.
The Bri decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Cunningham - John, Lacina, Monika - Stenka, Iturrao, Cleal, Barbado, Herbots - Urdangarin, Nichtovios.
Sydney had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
They fielded: Russo - Ward, Shanahan, McNicholas, Schaunig - Felsch, Dodd, Man-Low, Cameron - Timmins, Regis.
The Bri took the lead 3 minutes in, as
T. Monika broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
Coming from the right,
P. Cleal almost managed to score another goal for The Bri, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper.
After 25 minutes,
T. Monika put The Bri ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
Halftime score was 2 - 0.
The Bri had most of the ball, with 69 percent of possession.
With 47 minutes played, The Bri put themselves up 3 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
R. Urdangarin, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
The Bri increased the lead as
P. Cleal struck to make the score 4 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
After this, you could see that the players of The Bri were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
The referee showed The Bri's
M. Lacina the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
R. Russo of Sydney had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game.
J. Ray came in to finish the match.
The Bri solidified their lead at the 73 minute mark, as
Y. Nichtovios dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 0.
The Bri's
T. Monika was shown a yellow card after 74 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as The Bri scored another to make it 6 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
P. Cleal after 81 minutes.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in The Bri's
W. John increasing the lead to 7 - 0.
The Bri enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.
The most dominating The Bri player was without a doubt
W. John.
P. Cleal was a disappointment, however.
Sydney's best player was
T. Man-Low.
J. Ray on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 7 - 0.
