Clouds darkened the skies at
The Racetrack as 40632 spectators turned up for the match.
Goran Anteljević was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Thor Kjellsen and
David Huygen.
All of
New Zealand North was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
Gallopers started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
Lineup: Nunes Leal - Kivinen, Hägerström, Gontard - Severinsen, Koss, Grimm, Piccinato - Flambrant, Floury, Villagrán.
Zealand tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Quarry - Graham, Barton, Washbrook, Sheedy - Spinks, Kirkpatrick, Wade, Cuerden - Wadeson, Radford.
They were singing the praises of
H. Grimm 8 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Gallopers.
10 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
A. Kivinen broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Gallopers.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
S. Washbrook got himself booked. The manager of Zealand was not happy.
After 24 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
S. Gontard gave the Gallopers supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 0.
After this, you could see that the players of Gallopers were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
F. Radford of Zealand received a yellow card after 28 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
With 38 minutes played, Gallopers put themselves up 4 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
P. Hägerström, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
J. Villagrán sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
S. Floury after 39 minutes of play, making the score 5 - 0.
5 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Gallopers claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
J. Villagrán squirmed through their central defence after 49 minutes, increasing the lead to 6 - 0.
Cheers filled the stadium as
S. Floury broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 7 - 0 to Gallopers.
Gallopers solidified their lead at the 69 minute mark, as
J. Severinsen dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 8 - 0.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Gallopers's
J. Villagrán increasing the lead to 9 - 0.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
J. Villagrán.
Gallopers solidified their lead at the 81 minute mark, as
S. Floury dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 10 - 0.
Gallopers's
T. Koss was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 82 minutes.
Gallopers had most of the ball, with 68 percent of possession.
S. Floury performed admirably for Gallopers.
S. Piccinato was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Zealand player was without a doubt
T. Wadeson.
S. Wade turned in a dismal performance, however.
