previous 8/10 next 10/10  Transmission 4 - 1 United (386993789)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 12000 at Feel The Power today. Harald Vikblom was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rune Skogseth and Per Wickborn. Transmission decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Dick - Kamahi, 旭林 (Xulin) , Laws, Elliott - Mullins, Staples, Pare, Mallick - Vassallo, Anderson.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for United. Lineup: Mew - Petkovic, Oliver, Maxwell, Ridge - Quinn, Sugden, Dandy, Fulci - McCall, Hodgson.

Transmission were very close to putting themselves one up after 3 minutes as C. Vassallo got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. 9 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Transmission was B. Anderson. Cheers filled the stadium as C. Vassallo broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Transmission. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, B. Anderson got himself booked. The manager of Transmission was not happy. T. Laws's lack of experience almost gave United a goal after 19 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0. Possession was split evenly between the teams.

R. Elliott of Transmission received a yellow card after 63 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Transmission to 3 - 0 as R. Elliott finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. With 84 minutes played, Transmission put themselves up 4 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to J. Pare, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Confident in their lead, Transmission's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. United managed to reduce the score to 4 - 1 as L. McCall finished off a well-played combination from the left, easily carving through the defence. United's J. Ridge got himself booked for a foul. United's J. Maxwell had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 89 minutes having been played. F. Retchless was the replacement. United claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

Transmission's best player was B. Anderson. However, G. Dick made a disastrous appearance. J. Ridge performed admirably for United. On the other hand, F. Quinn's play was disheartening. The match ends 4 - 1.
