previous 2/4 next 4/4  Fernsy 4 - 1 DareDevils (387018118)

Clear skies welcomed the 12000 spectators who had made their way to Elland Road. Gaetano Trotta was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Mika Jutikkala and Vittorio Oddenino. Fernsy had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: 子融 (Zirong) - Dunn, Jenkins, 弘洋 (Hongyang) , Terino - Elwood, Hanson, Osborn, 新文 (Xinwen) - Kullar, Gunson.

DareDevils tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. Lineup: Kogara - Homan, Geffen, Lawry, Perraudin - Chantrey, Addison, Dickman, Quick - Kostelidou, Vanstone.

Underestimation of the opposition made Fernsy players perform way below their normal capacity. The referee showed Fernsy's R. Elwood the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. S. Hanson received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 28 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. DareDevils took the lead 31 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle. L. Chantrey was the scorer. Fernsy's M. Gunson put his head to a high ball coming in from the right after 33 minutes, but the ball went wide. With 39 minutes played, G. Vanstone of DareDevils fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 41 minutes into the match, an alert W. Osborn bagged the ball for Fernsy, levelling the score to 1 - 1. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Fernsy, with 61 percent of the ball.

The Fernsy players had looked too sure of themselves in the first half. Several of the players managed to break this attitude as the second half started, realising they would not be able to win unless they also put in the hard work. A. Kullar caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 50 minutes. This gave Fernsy the 2 - 1 lead. Fernsy managed to extend their lead to 3 - 1 when A. Kullar cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. L. Homan of DareDevils was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. M. Gunson could have increased the lead after 70 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Fernsy's M. Gunson increasing the lead to 4 - 1. Fernsy had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.

Fernsy's top performer was clearly 林. 新文 (Xinwen). J. Dunn on the other hand, had a terrible day. G. Addison performed admirably for DareDevils. However, I. Kogara made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 4 - 1.
