Berrincha bagged the ball for Daegu, levelling the score to 1 - 1. D. Päßler was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner was beautifully flicked on by K. Oh, but the ball bounced off the post to safety. Daegu took the lead after 29 minutes as a result of K. Jang's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 2 - 1. After 30 minutes, UNITED used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach. 2 - 1 was the score after the first half. Daegu enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.

Although the whole team were struggling to impress, UNITED's R. Turone was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 50 minutes. K. Cho was given a chance to change things around. Cheers filled the stadium as K. Jang broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 1 to Daegu. The pressing from the defenders made it hard for Daegu to find any shooting possibilities, which was shown after 85 minutes when the hard-working defence blocked all possible shooting opportunities and eventually stole the ball. With 89 minutes played, Daegu's G. Berrincha almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. Daegu once again set a long distance shooter in position after 89 minutes, but the defenders were wide awake and closed in on the shooter in time to block the shot. S. Kim was called on to replace Daegu's G. Berrincha after 89 minutes following a nasty collision. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Daegu's K. Jang increasing the lead to 4 - 1. By then K. Jang had scored three goals - a hat trick! Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Daegu, with 69 percent of the ball.

H. Kim performed admirably for Daegu. R. Strous on the other hand, had a terrible day. UNITED's top performer was clearly H. Kim. K. Oh turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 1.
