A scorching day at
Mookhyun Arena, where 47561 spectators were in place for today's match.
Silverio Leopardi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Sander Trummi and
Roelof van Dongen.
GONJIAM started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Lineup: Báez - Kim, Mastrosimone, Flaugnacco, Duso - Lee, Park, Choi, Jung - Maeng, Kang.
Bears tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
They fielded: de Frias - Lindberg, Arcas, Matos Rocha - Canisius, Zogorean, Vronč, Påske - Mettler, Xavier, Kosover.
GONJIAM used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field.
Bears used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings.
In a rapid move 3 minutes into the match,
S. Xavier of Bears lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked
S. Kosover who easily hit it home to make it 0 - 1. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy!
GONJIAM tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play.
GONJIAM put pressure on the visitors' central defence 34 minutes into the game, but
S. Kang couldn't find an opening.
The referee showed Bears's
E. Zogorean the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
GONJIAM's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle.
Bears's
B. Lindberg got himself booked for a foul.
After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 41 minutes into the match, an alert
M. Jung bagged the ball for GONJIAM, levelling the score to 1 - 1.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1.
GONJIAM had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.
GONJIAM fans held their breath as
G. Flaugnacco scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 2 - 1!
71 minutes in, GONJIAM's
S. Park received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
After 83 minutes GONJIAM's
J. Maeng contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as GONJIAM scored another to make it 3 - 1 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
J. Maeng after 84 minutes.
85 minutes in, an amazing pass from the left side resulted in a goal for the visitors, as
J. Vronč anticipated the through ball and scored, reducing the deficit to 3 - 2.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in GONJIAM's
S. Kang increasing the lead to 4 - 2.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
M. Jung from GONJIAM a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 88 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
The pressing tactics used by GONJIAM were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times.
Possession in this half belonged to GONJIAM, who controlled the ball 63 percent of the time.
The most dominating GONJIAM player was without a doubt
G. Flaugnacco.
D. Lee was a disappointment, however.
Bears's best player was
S. Kosover.
J. Mettler on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 4 - 2.
