Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
Stadium Paya saw a crowd turnout of 10298.
Ignaz Starreveld was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Lauri-Pekka Pajunen and
Lev Poltavchenko.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
Brunei and Muara derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
Paya had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
They fielded: bin Jerah - Fuad, Keong Ping, bin Mohammad Aliff, Hao - bin Hj Mohd Mohammad, Chu Jing, bin Hj Muhd Hardiman, bin Hj Hussin - Bagenda, Ah Siong.
Ghinzu started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Böhm - Erdağ, Ramondino, Dindar - Văn Hưng, bin Sapar, bin Ariffin, Jain, bin Hj Maidin - Karetie, Montvai.
Ghinzu mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
Ghinzu took the lead 5 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle.
I. Montvai was the scorer.
Ghinzu's
A. Jain made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 18 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
With 19 minutes played,
I. Montvai nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar.
Ghinzu had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks.
A. Jain received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 29 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Ghinzu fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
O. Dindar of Ghinzu seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 0 - 3 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
I. Montvai.
The visitors'
P. Karetie took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 39 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for Ghinzu.
Confident in their lead, Ghinzu's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
After 41 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
I. Montvai a chance to increase the lead for Ghinzu, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 5.
Halftime score was 0 - 5.
Possession in this half belonged to Ghinzu, who controlled the ball 91 percent of the time.
P. Karetie increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 6.
After 52 minutes, Ghinzu's
I. Montvai burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 7.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
I. Montvai.
After 53 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
L. Văn Hưng who increased Ghinzu's lead to 0 - 8.
Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
I. Montvai would have put Ghinzu up another goal 54 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
Ghinzu enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 93 percent of possession.
The most dominating Paya player was without a doubt
S. Bagenda.
However,
C. Chu Jing made a disastrous appearance.
H. bin Sapar performed admirably for Ghinzu.
O. Dindar turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 8.
