previous 6/10 next 8/10  Kandahar 4 - 2 Karachi (387173020)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 35000 to Rough Field. Enzo Cassano was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rain Raitviir and Fernán Jiménez. Kandahar tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. They fielded: Zaidi - Wahla, Iqbal, Valle - Daud, Ansari, Oliveira, Najib, Noorani - Tehsin, Burhan.

Karachi decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. The following players took the field: Wright - Sotirov, Siddique, Osborne - Arif, Leimgrub, Fenske, Popescu - Koç, Enggrob Bøndergaard, Kozerski.

Karachi used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Kandahar fans held their breath as J. Valle scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! Coming from the right, A. Burhan almost managed to score another goal for Kandahar, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. 24 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as S. Noorani broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Kandahar. Kandahar had to make a substitution after 39 minutes. A. Burhan limped off the field and was replaced by S. Khan. With 40 minutes played, Kandahar put themselves up 3 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to S. Noorani, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Kandahar's S. Noorani was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 42 minutes. With 43 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, Karachi showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 3 - 1 when N. Sotirov got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal. Halftime score was 3 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Kandahar, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.

After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, M. Oliveira got himself booked. The manager of Kandahar was not happy. After 73 minutes, J. Najib put Kandahar ahead 4 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Karachi, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. The visitors replied 76 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 4 - 2, as B. Fenske dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper. L. Pasierbski was called on to replace Karachi's H. Siddique after 80 minutes following a nasty collision. Kandahar enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.

Kandahar's best player was H. Zaidi. J. Valle on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Karachi player was without a doubt C. Enggrob Bøndergaard. However, L. Pasierbski made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 4 - 2.
