Clouds darkened the skies at
Unreal Stadium as 53809 spectators turned up for the match.
Dave Donnelly was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ugo Angiolini and
Ryszard Rokossowski.
Spectre started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
They fielded: Polica - Gounopoulos, Babazhanov, Zamfirescu - Morev, Dulatov, Raevskiy, Zhurovich, Mashentsev - Valente, Risser.
Blinkmaster had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
Starters: Maaravi - Stacewicz, Gammelgard, Uzeel - Badrak, Chekodanov, Battaglini, Cardona - Idogay, Sogot Uulu, Polloni.
Spectre were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Blinkmaster.
Blinkmaster were great at switching from defence to attack, and after 17 minutes,
P. Idogay swept through the middle on a counterattack, making the score 0 - 1.
Spectre's
P. Risser put his head to a high ball coming in from the right after 20 minutes, but the ball went wide.
Players in Spectre heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
Spectre needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 35 minutes
V. Mashentsev made way for
A. Zhulanov.
It was 0 - 1 at the break.
Spectre enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.
After 46 minutes, Spectre switched
N. Raevskiy with
D. Shalkar, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
It was obvious that Spectre had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 60 minutes gave Spectre a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and
L. Zhurovich stepped up to the challenge. 1 - 1
With clinical precision, the cross from winger
B. Badrak found its way to
O. Polloni's head, and a screaming header gave Blinkmaster the goal after 62 minutes played. 1 - 2
A good free kick by
K. Dulatov would have scored the equaliser for Spectre, had it not been for the dramatic save by the visitors' goalkeeper.
B. Badrak received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 69 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 3. The Blinkmaster fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
With 75 minutes played, the Spectre coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
M. Hermon came on,
P. Risser had to leave the fray.
M. Hermon became the new Spectre captain.
The cannonball from 35 metres by
O. Babazhanov of Spectre was an impressive sight, but didn't make it into the net.
M. Stacewicz sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
P. Idogay after 81 minutes of play, making the score 1 - 4.
A superb free kick by Spectre's
K. Dulatov after 82 minutes looked like it'd reduced the lead after it hit the underside of the bar and bounced down over the line, but to the fury of the home crowd the linesman missed it - no goal!
In the 83 minute, Blinkmaster were awarded a free kick as their counter attack dried up. The ball was sent in high over the penalty box and, in what looked like a well-rehearsed move, it was headed backwards to reach
G. Battaglini, who placed it into the net with a single touch. 1 - 5.
After this, you could see that the players of Blinkmaster were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
Some fine movement on the left led to a Blinkmaster goal after 84 minutes, making it 1 - 6.
C. Sogot Uulu was noted down as the scorer.
Possession in this half belonged to Spectre, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.
Most important Spectre player was
D. Shalkar.
Z. Valente on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Blinkmaster's top performer was clearly
P. Idogay.
J. Gammelgard was a disappointment, however.
