Clouds darkened the skies at
Isatay Taimanuly as 57162 spectators turned up for the match.
Matthäus Maune was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ukko Lindström and
Evgeny Vodkin.
Akzhaiyk had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation.
They fielded: Kazybaev - Sarybaev, Timashev - Trabace, Temirgaliev, Zhabaspaev, Gabbasov, Sarsenov - Kunanbayev, Kayruk, Kadirsizov.
Caribbean decided to use a 4-5-1 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Schachler - Jorge, Tanuma, Scharmbeck, Piantoni - Berruti, Balaychuk, Sedlbauer, Arystanbayev, Dufay - Neshkov.
Caribbean mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
2 minutes into the match, Caribbean nearly took the lead, as
P. Jorge broke through on the right.
K. Kazybaev made the save, however.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
P. Jorge from Caribbean a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 36 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
One of many good crosses from
C. Trabace on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by
A. Kayruk, who scored for Akzhaiyk. 1 - 0
The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 41 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but
K. Kazybaev got the best of it, blocking the shot from
M. Arystanbayev.
Caribbean's
S. Scharmbeck was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 42 minutes.
1 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Caribbean, with 56 percent of the ball.
After 64 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
D. Temirgaliev gave the Akzhaiyk supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0.
Akzhaiyk managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when
S. Kadirsizov cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
Caribbean managed to reduce the score to 3 - 1 as
E. Neshkov finished off a well-played combination from the left, easily carving through the defence.
85 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when Caribbean's
S. Scharmbeck received his second yellow card and was sent off.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Akzhaiyk coach let
E. Kairatov replace
R. Timashev after 88 minutes.
A. Sarybaev wanted to play on, but the Akzhaiyk coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 88 minutes into the game by
A. Dulatov.
Caribbean claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.
Akzhaiyk's top performer was clearly
M. Zhabaspaev.
K. Kazybaev turned in a dismal performance, however.
Caribbean's best player was
T. Tanuma.
I. Schachler was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 1.
