Unlimited 7 - 0 Maharashtra (387183732)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 9851 had shown up at Barons Unlimited Arena for the match. Cristoforo Sperlinga was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Elie Lorentz and Marcel Bodien. Unlimited started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Starters: Patel - Joshi, Tope, Patel, Kesineni - Bhatnagar, Dias, Cangyang, Prasad - Mohapatra, Tare.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Maharashtra. The following players took the field: Raut-Roy - Vaidyanathan, Bramwell, Das, Satish - Dhanesh, Marquis, Singh, Kanojia - Bhattacharya, Datta.

Some great play up the middle by Unlimited led to a chance for M. Kesineni to score after 3 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. They were singing the praises of M. Kesineni 10 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Unlimited. Cheers filled the stadium as D. Dias broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Unlimited. After this, you could see that the players of Unlimited were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. Unlimited solidified their lead at the 23 minute mark, as G. Mohapatra dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0. Unlimited put themselves up 4 - 0 when D. Dias broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. I. Kapoor was called on to replace Maharashtra's C. Marquis after 37 minutes following a nasty collision. It was 4 - 0 at the break. Unlimited had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.

A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Unlimited to 5 - 0 as M. Prasad finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Z. Cangyang could have put Unlimited up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 82 minutes. Unlimited's G. Mohapatra saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 85 minutes. Some things can only be learned through experience, and R. Tope should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Maharashtra a goal with 86 minutes of the match played. The score became 6 - 0 at 88 minutes into the game, when Unlimited were given a penalty which A. Joshi blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance! 88 minutes in, Unlimited's T. Bhatnagar received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. A. Joshi increased Unlimited's lead to 7 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Unlimited, with 65 percent of the ball.

Most important Unlimited player was D. Dias. However, R. Tope made a disastrous appearance. I. Kapoor performed admirably for Maharashtra. J. Raut-Roy turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 7 - 0.
