previous 9/10 next 1/10  Malexi 1 - 2 North-West (387276433)

Clouds darkened the skies at Malexi Park as 28563 spectators turned up for the match. Marnix Vianen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Mangirdas Znotinas and Isaltino Roupeira. Malexi decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Scarrow - Arsten, Pomés, Meran - Voica, Maiwald, Norro, Nitri, Dimitriou - Krhút, Bröhl.

North-West tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. They fielded: Mbangwa - Bettonte, Eiseman, Chuquillanqui - Penkovskiy, Crusher, Sude, Artaza, Pirolo - Płoszczyca, Hirschy.

R. Płoszczyca came close to putting the visiting team one up 11 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but L. Scarrow managed to tip the ball to a corner. Malexi's A. Meran was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 12 minutes. 14 minutes in, the referee awarded Malexi a penalty. V. Norro coolly slotted it home for a 1 - 0 lead. R. Płoszczyca made a run for the goal 19 minutes into the game but the home team's left back managed to sort the situation out in the end. The crowd was silenced 36 minutes into the match as the visiting team's R. Płoszczyca came in from the left, levelling the score to 1 - 1. Halftime score was 1 - 1. North-West had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

E. Pirolo had a good opportunity to give North-West the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save. L. Dimitriou neatly controlled the ball after a short corner, and knocked it on to L. Maiwald who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post. After 60 minutes, North-West put themselves up 1 - 2, as G. Hirschy finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. F. Artaza wanted to play on, but the North-West coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 80 minutes into the game by B. Leng. G. Hirschy was, after 84 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper L. Scarrow made the save. The North-West players could smell victory in the air. K. Mbangwa wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for A. Nurse after 85 minutes. L. Scarrow got a fingertip on W. Sude's shot from the left 85 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. North-West enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.

The most dominating Malexi player was without a doubt L. Scarrow. On the other hand, F. Voica's play was disheartening. W. Sude performed admirably for North-West. A. Nurse turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
