Scrofolo managed to reduce the lead to 1 - 2. 40 minutes into the game, Widzew were awarded a penalty and E. Schinkel was able to increase the visitors' lead to 1 - 3 rolling the ball in by the right post. 1 - 3 was the score after the first half. Widzew enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

It took several tries, but Tigers managed to break through on the left after 67 minutes, getting the ball to M. Boldt who easily reduced the lead to make the score 2 - 3. Tigers's M. Boldt put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored to make the score 3 - 3 with 69 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock. D. Mutum's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some breathtaking tricks that bamboozled the defence. 3 - 4 was the score with 78 minutes played, after D. Retana cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Widzew. F. Guerendain was, after 81 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper K. Naveau made the save. After 82 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for P. Gawryszczak who increased Widzew's lead to 3 - 5. Widzew had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

Tigers's best player was H. Iversen. E. Tüzgen turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Widzew player was without a doubt P. Gawryszczak. However, D. Mutum made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 5.
