previous 2/10 next 4/10  Serpentium 3 - 0 GC (387298015)

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 23597 that came out to Serpent Arena. Shamsul Akmar bin Abd Wahid was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Åge Wammen and Mario Aguerri. Serpentium decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. The following players took the field: Bardou - Stępnik, Koscholke, Kret, Dajcz - Saleva, González, David, Fiedler, Wicher - Rał.

GC tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination. They fielded: Breitschmid - Selhult, Knopper, Wahrmann, McDermott, Paglia - Vetrano, Lamolinara, Smarandache - Patiño, Matemaitis.

Serpentium saw most attack opportunities on the wings. It was obvious that Serpentium had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. At 2 minutes played, R. David came in from the right with the intention of giving Serpentium the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. 10 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Serpentium was D. Rał. Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile S. González. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 27 minutes, Serpentium did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, D. Rał was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 2 - 0. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Serpentium, with 82 percent of the ball.

The Serpentium players could smell victory in the air. D. Kret wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for B. Balle Larsen after 46 minutes. Serpentium put themselves up 3 - 0 when S. González broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. Serpentium enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 83 percent of possession.

R. Stępnik performed admirably for Serpentium. J. Dajcz on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating GC player was without a doubt D. McDermott. M. Breitschmid was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 0.
