Malbork 2 - 4 Złotniki
(387298480)

19-08-2012 09.00
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 30772 at
Ursa Maior today.
Glenn Ragnarsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
John Rislind and
Karl Hammer.
Malbork had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Branzanti - Ben Allal, Itacoatiara, Santacatalina - Perekitnyi, Masyutin, Ignat, Chomski, Charlot - Dima, Vilgertshofer.
Złotniki started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Idsinga - Holst, Carioca, Siodłak - Tvistholm, Borowczak, Giaimo, Alvarez, Slaboch - Picmaus, Vardi.
Malbork were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
The wings were the focus of most of Złotniki's attacks today.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
G. Dima, but the Malbork player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
The swift technical skills of
P. Perekitnyi were often too much for the tall but somewhat slow
I. Siodłak who was humiliated after 19 minutes. He'll be breathing a huge sigh of relief after the final shot went wide.
Malbork's
H. Vilgertshofer left the field after 25 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
O. Guthrie.
Malbork were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings.
G. Dima increased the lead for Malbork to 2 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
I. Siodłak of Złotniki seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 2 - 1 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
S. Tvistholm.
After 28 minutes, the visitors tied it up at 2 - 2 when a fantastic pass from the left was finished off by
X. Carioca.
2 - 3 was the score with 29 minutes played, after
R. Holst cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Złotniki.
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 3.
Possession in this half belonged to Malbork, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
A. Branzanti kept the home side in the game with a magnificent save when
S. Tvistholm delivered an almost perfect free kick to the far post.
It was obvious that Złotniki had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
R. Holst increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 2 - 4.
After the ball was lifted in from the left,
B. Vardi was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 62 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.
Malbork enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
Most important Malbork player was
G. Dima.
On the other hand,
O. Guthrie's play was disheartening.
B. Vardi performed admirably for Złotniki.
However,
J. Borowczak made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 2 - 4.
