previous 4/10 next 6/10  Instytut 0 - 0 Piła (387328605)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 24548 to Solari Saint`s Arena. Delio Tamponi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Nathan Deroose and Juan Antonio Arrieta Martínez. Instytut decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Hennies - Gaudry, Dosz, Gunnarsson - Maiello, Valsjø, Kubacki, Knedla, Puletua - Vătavu, Burbaum.

Piła started off with a 5-3-2 lineup. Lineup: Sakellarios - Lenartowski, Pacześ, van Mol, Biś, Ruszkiewicz - Baerts, Dańczak, Petryszyn - Irholt, Molina.

For their match strategy, Piła had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. After 6 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by Instytut was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options. Piła almost scored after a counterattack 20 minutes into the match, but M. Irholt took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net. With the clock showing 22 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Piła resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by K. Petryszyn in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. 23 minutes into the game, R. Biś almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. Instytut had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.

H. Hennies looked great 47 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors' K. Petryszyn. After 62 minutes, Piła surprised their opponents with a breakaway counter attack. The defenders had to resort to a foul to stop it. The free kick that followed was a clever indirect effort that almost succeeded, but the defence read the situation well and the intended recipient was left ruing what might have been. Piła's J. Lenartowski's long shot really ought to have found the net 78 minutes into the match, but it fell just wide of the target. Possession in this half belonged to Instytut, who controlled the ball 63 percent of the time.

Most important Instytut player was A. Kubacki. S. Puletua was a disappointment, however. Piła's best player was J. Baerts. On the other hand, N. van Mol's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 0.
