Clouds darkened the skies at
Arturo Bernabeu as 22623 spectators turned up for the match.
Regino Puccio was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ebbo Vanhove and
Pentti Adamsson.
Karman tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Espinal - Jespers, Bargnani, Cottyn - Alustiza, Rüfenacht, Chaudy, Gorigoytía, Stasiorowski - Petrov, Di Tuccio.
Scousers started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Osadnik - Laux, Jokimies, Kuschevatzky - Dzienis, Clare, Hryckiewicz, Welter, Bouvrot - Bellaspiga, Napoleão.
Karman showed off their creative tactics.
It was an obvious ambition of Scousers to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
Many thought
H. Jespers ought to have been awarded a penalty 3 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
F. Osadnik after a determined run through the middle.
Karman took the lead 4 minutes into the match after a magnificent free kick by
C. Chaudy that made the score 1 - 0.
Karman's
P. Gorigoytía had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 7 minutes having been played.
A. Kuliński was the replacement.
After 17 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
P. Petrov might have resulted in another goal for Karman. However,
F. Osadnik made a spectacular save.
Scousers had a chance to level the score as
L. Bellaspiga suddenly found himself free in the middle of the box with only the keeper to beat, but he misjudged the finish, and only managed to hit the bar.
1 - 0 was the halftime score.
Scousers claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
The visiting team's
F. Kuschevatzky was able to score the 1 - 1 equaliser with a header 55 minutes into the match, after some good work on the right.
Karman broke through on the left 59 minutes into the game, with
H. Jespers firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 2 - 1 lead.
Attacking on the wings was the choice for Scousers, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack.
Some brilliant football from the visitors' right wing resulted in a levelling of the score as Scousers's
J. Hryckiewicz put the ball in the onion bag after 72 minutes to make it 2 - 2.
Scousers enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.
E. Stasiorowski performed admirably for Karman.
S. Espinal was a disappointment, however.
Scousers's top performer was clearly
M. Welter.
F. Osadnik turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 2 - 2.
