Dark skies made the crowd of 27636 at
DEVILS Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Anastacio Verdevalle was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Teodors Lazdins and
Mile Lapčić.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for DEVILS.
The following players had been chosen: Minuto - Chappaz, Ventrone, Gligorjević - Rebai, Varesi, Smagała, Buliga, Buchert - Gilliam, Barrosinho.
Final... had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation.
Lineup: Jakimów - Pancer, Iñiguez - Marin, Bohdanowicz, Beljean, Baraniak, Beaujouan - Skurczyński, Dryjer, Arnhard.
Final... saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
Final... took the lead after 20 minutes making the score 0 - 1.
K. Dryjer placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left.
C. Barrosinho showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 24 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away.
32 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
R. Baraniak, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide.
The guests took the lead 36 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
B. Beljean scoring to make it 1 - 2.
The crowd roared in delight as
C. Barrosinho finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for DEVILS 40 minutes into the match. 2 - 2.
It was 2 - 2 at the break.
DEVILS enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.
50 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a DEVILS substitution.
A. Verdoorn came on for
S. Buchert.
The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Final...'s
J. Marin after 59 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 2 - 3 lead.
After 70 minutes,
N. Rebai made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 3 - 3.
DEVILS broke through on the left 78 minutes into the game, with
A. Verdoorn firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 4 - 3 lead.
Final... needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 83 minutes
D. Arnhard made way for
K. Tyranowski.
With 83 minutes played, the Final... coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
C. Salamaga came on,
K. Skurczyński had to leave the fray.
DEVILS's
D. Buliga increased the lead to 5 - 3, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 87 minutes.
After 88 minutes Final...'s
S. Pancer had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony.
曹. 貴民 (Guimin) came in to replace him.
Possession in this half belonged to DEVILS, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.
DEVILS's best player was
C. Barrosinho.
D. Buliga was a disappointment, however.
Most important Final... player was
J. Marin.
S. Jakimów turned in a dismal performance, however.
