previous 8/10 next 10/10  Trawniki 1 - 2 Miski (387357377)

22192 punters turned up at Estadio del Pantano, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Martin Eriksson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Nevzat Mahrur and João Portela. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Trawniki. Starters: Lobo Viana - Beato, Tuzimek - Moravčević, Koncewicz, Tumanowicz, Leiner, Zhorzholiani - Jeleśniański, Ksel, Varga.

Miski tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Sletten - Holti, Denicolo, Mosiman - Curlej, Pin, Agnello, Di Tuccio, Precoba - Bieg, Lorán.

Trawniki took a creative approach on the field. It was an obvious ambition of Miski to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. They were singing the praises of B. Varga 29 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Trawniki. After 30 minutes Miski's G. Lorán contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. A wonderful trick by I. Ksel that left K. Mosiman bewildered really deserved to end in a goal but the keeper made a fine save. After 34 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by R. Jeleśniański might have resulted in another goal for Trawniki. However, P. Sletten made a spectacular save. As E. Beato had, completely unprovoked, swept the legs out from under an opponent in front of a linesman, the referee gave the Trawniki player a red card without batting an eyelid. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, B. Varga took over the role of being the Trawniki captain. Miski were forced into a substitution as G. Di Tuccio couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing T. Białachowski to come in off the bench. The home side's I. Ksel came close to extending the lead 39 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but P. Sletten managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. What was P. Leiner thinking? That's what everyone wondered when, for no apparent reason, he shot a cross pass over his own penalty area, giving M. Curlej an extra chance, but unfortunately for Miski, he didn't get the shot right. H. Tenzer was called on to replace Miski's M. Precoba after 42 minutes following a nasty collision. P. Sletten became the new Miski captain. Miski were able to mount several counterattacks, such as the impressive one after 44 minutes, but E. Holti lofted a free kick over the crossbar. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Trawniki had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

Players in Miski heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. G. Lorán finished off the counterattack of Miski from the left rather easily, making the score 1 - 1. Miski's T. Denicolo could have put the guests one up after 54 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but G. Lobo Viana was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. M. Curlej of Miski received a yellow card after 66 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. G. Lorán's speed was clear to see after 68 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released G. Bieg who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 1 - 2. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Trawniki's M. Moravčević was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 68 minutes. T. Bachor was given a chance to change things around. Trawniki needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 68 minutes R. Jeleśniański made way for D. Zaręba. Trawniki tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play. Possession in this half belonged to Trawniki, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.

Most important Trawniki player was A. Tumanowicz. D. Zaręba on the other hand, had a terrible day. G. Agnello performed admirably for Miski. On the other hand, H. Tenzer's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 2.
