previous 2/10 next 4/10  BorutaZgierz 10 - 0 JANEK (387378962)

A scorching day at Arena of Zgierz, where 35944 spectators were in place for today's match. Sébastien Diard was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Remo Lista and Gilberto Schluchter. A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for BorutaZgierz. Starters: Grzywacz - Li, Rafałko, Šaulinskis, Brinkhoff - Laetsch, Bizzarri, Bosetti, Campestrini, Rădulescu - Corridoni.

JANEK started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Ficoń - Gawryło, Łękolski, Gołębiewski, Brej - Kubas, Mosakowski, Ellwart, Skonieczny - Skubida, Tarasek.

BorutaZgierz were clearly looking ahead to the next match rather than focusing on the one at hand. The wings were the focus of most of BorutaZgierz's attacks today. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to L. Corridoni, but the BorutaZgierz player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! JANEK's S. Tarasek refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 14 minutes. Always quick and a menace to his opponents, C. Skonieczny was very close to getting through after 15 minutes, but he could only put the ball into the keeper's arms. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in BorutaZgierz's O. Campestrini increasing the lead to 2 - 0. JANEK's B. Skubida was shown a yellow card after 33 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile D. Rădulescu. The BorutaZgierz free kick 40 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of R. Laetsch, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 3 - 0! The players of BorutaZgierz now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. 42 minutes into the game, BorutaZgierz had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to weak. BorutaZgierz's D. Rădulescu struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 4 - 0 after 43 minutes. After 44 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and M. Rafałko gave the BorutaZgierz supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 0. Halftime score was 5 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to BorutaZgierz, who controlled the ball 78 percent of the time.

During the break, BorutaZgierz's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to passable organisation. BorutaZgierz increased the lead as M. Rafałko struck to make the score 6 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. 54 minutes in, JANEK's D. Gawryło received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 64 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as BorutaZgierz found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to passable. After 65 minutes, E. Šaulinskis put BorutaZgierz ahead 7 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Unsportsmanlike behaviour by D. Gawryło rendered him his second booking of the match, and JANEK had to finish the game with a reduced squad. The sunny day didn't make things easy for G. Bosetti who didn't seem his usual powerful self on the pitch. Content with how the game was proceeding, the BorutaZgierz coach let H. Wallenstorfer replace O. Campestrini after 70 minutes. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. H. Wallenstorfer squirmed through their central defence after 72 minutes, increasing the lead to 8 - 0. R. Laetsch found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat. H. Wallenstorfer increased the lead for BorutaZgierz to 9 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! 82 minutes in, BorutaZgierz appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only passable. With 87 minutes played, BorutaZgierz put themselves up 10 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to H. Wallenstorfer, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. That made three goals for H. Wallenstorfer and he was marked down for the hat trick. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by BorutaZgierz, with 78 percent of the ball.

BorutaZgierz's top performer was clearly R. Brinkhoff. However, H. Wallenstorfer made a disastrous appearance. Most important JANEK player was S. Tarasek. A. Ficoń on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 10 - 0.
