The 19083 spectators at San Siro were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Lee Squires was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Balthasar Denzler and Amós Famoso. Jastrzębie mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave A. Wockenfuß from Jastrzębie a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 29 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! After 30 minutes a very unfortunate collision in the penalty area led to Cate's F. Engiz being carried off the pitch and replaced by J. Robakiewicz. 34 minutes into the match, the visiting Jastrzębie made the score 0 - 1 after I. Imøy executed a perfect free kick. Due to some great work on the right wing Cate's A. Knihtilä was able to even the score after 36 minutes to make the score 1 - 1. After 41 minutes, A. van Doorn came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving Cate the lead. Cate's A. Knihtilä refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 42 minutes. Halftime score was 2 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Cate, with 71 percent of the ball.

With 55 minutes played, the Jastrzębie coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. I. Razdan came on, H. Rekowski had to leave the fray. The bench was restless, and with 55 minutes passed Jastrzębie's coach gave J. Kolesiński the opportunity the player had been hoping for. I. Werno reluctantly left the field. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Jastrzębie's N. Dertouzos was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 55 minutes. E. Bodny was given a chance to change things around. A. Wockenfuß became the new Jastrzębie captain. K. Wainer wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat. With 78 minutes played, I. Razdan came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by Jastrzębie. Cate managed to extend their lead to 3 - 1 when A. van Doorn cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. J. Kolesiński of Jastrzębie was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish O. Sá, which resulted in a goal making the score 3 - 2. Cate increased the lead as A. van Doorn struck to make the score 4 - 2 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. By then A. van Doorn had scored three goals - a hat trick! Cate's opponents know to be wary of K. Wainer's speed, but it made little difference as he flew past the defence 87 minutes into the game. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive! After 88 minutes, Cate raised their score by one when K. Wainer's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by D. Guijt. 5 - 2. Cate claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 70 percent.

The most dominating Cate player was without a doubt K. Wainer. On the other hand, J. Robakiewicz's play was disheartening. Most important Jastrzębie player was F. Priefer. S. Sanfelici turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 5 - 2.
