05-08-2012 11.30
20370 punters turned up at
Slums Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Boguslaw Stanczak was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Arturo Massidda and
Haryton Novikau.
Wieliszew decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Štefanić - Pozzecco, Veršovskis, Mihalec, Metra - Grandgirard, Drętwus, Tervahartiala, Cruse - Curtin, Račić.
Kolareczki had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
They fielded: Kaca - Micu, Plankar, Donoghue, Los - Kistler, Várkonyi, Perri, Bağış - Smrž, Radulović.
Wieliszew mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
Today, Kolareczki's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks.
J. Donoghue's lack of experience almost gave Wieliszew a goal after 4 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
N. Cruse from Wieliszew a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 18 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Kolareczki's
M. Bağış gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 23 minutes with a superb strike from the right.
Attacking on the wings was the choice for Kolareczki, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack.
The home crowd was not impressed when
M. Kistler came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 25 minutes. Kolareczki were now up 0 - 2.
E. Smrž left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 26 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
T. Däbritz was the replacement.
N. Perri was handed the Kolareczki captain's armband.
0 - 2 was the score after the first half.
Kolareczki had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.
With 65 minutes played, the Wieliszew coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
L. Caramulo came on,
J. Drętwus had to leave the fray.
The referee showed Wieliszew's
M. Mihalec the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
N. Perri could have added one to the visitors' lead if his free kick had gone just a little lower.
Wieliszew were pushed back, and had many dangerous counterattacks. An impressive one came 82 minutes into the match, but
K. Tervahartiala narrowly missed the free kick attempt that was awarded as a result of a foul.
83 minutes in, Kolareczki's
I. Várkonyi received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
85 minutes into the match,
M. Radulović came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
Kolareczki had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead.
With 87 minutes played, Kolareczki put themselves up 0 - 3 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
M. Radulović.
After this, you could see that the players of Kolareczki were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
Kolareczki claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 69 percent.
Most important Wieliszew player was
T. Curtin.
However,
L. Caramulo made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Kolareczki player was without a doubt
N. Perri.
W. Kaca on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 0 - 3.
