7916 spectators arrived at
KłombajnArina, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Julian Tammery was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Krystian Ligenza and
Jimmy Lindelä.
ŁorajPole decided to use a 4-5-1 set up.
Lineup: Hansson - Battle, Schøler, Zbyrowski, Jarosiewicz - Gal, Ozon, Skonieczka, Karl, Valbonetti - Nieuwenhuizen.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for GLIWICE.
The following players took the field: Monteyne - Hunsel, Roulle - Cynar, Baya, Zannoni, Jošić, Kargol - Dobiáš, van Dasler, Vuarano.
GLIWICE tried to focus their attacks down the middle.
GLIWICE's opponents know to be wary of
Š. Dobiáš's speed, but it made little difference as he flew past the defence 7 minutes into the game. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive!
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
A. Zbyrowski should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting GLIWICE a goal with 12 minutes of the match played.
This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when
Š. Dobiáš slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against
J. Hansson, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes.
0 - 1 was the score with 25 minutes played, after
D. Vuarano cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for GLIWICE.
GLIWICE increased their lead after 34 minutes when
D. Vuarano broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 2, much to the home crowd's dismay.
0 - 2 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by GLIWICE, with 62 percent of the ball.
GLIWICE had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks.
After 49 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
R. Hunsel a chance to increase the lead for GLIWICE, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3.
Unfortunately for ŁorajPole,
J. Gal suffered a concussion after 50 minutes and had to be taken for tests. The coach had his head in his hands after realising he could not send a replacement onto the pitch, and the team had to continue a man short.
GLIWICE's
D. Kargol was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box -
Š. Dobiáš managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 0 - 4 after 53 minutes.
Confident in their lead, GLIWICE's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
ŁorajPole's
W. Jarosiewicz managed a superb strike from the left after 67 minutes that would have left goalkeeper
B. Monteyne without a chance, had it not hit the post.
GLIWICE had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.
A. Zbyrowski performed admirably for ŁorajPole.
On the other hand,
J. Hansson's play was disheartening.
Most important GLIWICE player was
L. Roulle.
B. Monteyne turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 4.
