VCV 1 - 2 Dampf (387481191)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 36446 had shown up at Virtual-Combat Arena for the match. Mattias Svensson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Hector Moosberger and Aart Kleute. The derby had been the talk of Wien all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. VCV tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Stancu - Rasehorn, Draxler - Perz, Klinger, Obwaller, Vasović, Romero - Stupar, Kellermayr, Capelas.

Dampf decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. The following players took the field: Croses - Nemecek, Fritsch, Treml - Forstner, Jäger, Porsche, Højer Nielsen - Schwichtenberg, Schmid, Lisser.

VCV had a good opportunity to take the lead as L. Romero came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of O. Croses. 29 minutes into the match, Dampf nearly took the lead, as N. Forstner broke through on the right. A. Stancu made the save, however. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 30 minutes into the match, and D. Schmid wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. VCV claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

Although the whole team were struggling to impress, VCV's W. Draxler was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 60 minutes. A. Tondera was given a chance to change things around. After 61 minutes of play, L. Romero evened things up for VCV with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1. The home keeper expected a move to the right, but E. Nemecek surprised him with a free kick aimed the other way 69 minutes into the match. 1 - 2 for Dampf. T. Jäger wanted to play on, but the Dampf coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 75 minutes into the game by R. Steinwender. VCV had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

The most dominating VCV player was without a doubt J. Capelas. A. Tondera on the other hand, had a terrible day. Dampf's best player was T. Schwichtenberg. On the other hand, D. Fritsch's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 2.
