17-06-2012 09.30
The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 50019 had shown up at
Gunners Seiersberg Arena for the match.
Lorenzo Schlender was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Cenk Doe and
Anouar Belaoui.
Seiersberg started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
They fielded: Kandel - Bleyel, List, Fischer - Crevola, Camacho, De Jong, Yardley, Piñero Yeste - Zhelev, Mattei.
Rappl-Speer tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Kova - Kellermann, Mendeš, Kendlbacher, Senna - Atıf, Mark, Steinbauer, Konsel - Delarue, Milanov.
Rappl-Speer were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
Seiersberg could have put themselves ahead after 2 minutes but
T. Zhelev missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right.
Seiersberg were very close to putting themselves one up after 7 minutes as
J. Yardley got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
Rappl-Speer almost scored after a swift counterattack 13 minutes into the game, but
S. Mendeš put the shot from the left flank just outside the goal.
Many thought
D. List ought to have been awarded a penalty 31 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
P. Kova after a determined run through the middle.
One of many good crosses from
C. Atıf on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by
V. Milanov, who scored for Rappl-Speer. 0 - 1
Halftime score was 0 - 1.
Seiersberg enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.
R. Mattei was just a finger's breadth away from an equaliser for Seiersberg with a strike from the left, but
P. Kova managed to ward the shot off for a corner.
A counterattack by Rappl-Speer after 59 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but
C. Atıf, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off.
Seiersberg tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play.
The crowd roared in delight as
R. Mattei finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for Seiersberg 76 minutes into the match. 1 - 1.
79 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
V. Milanov, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide.
Seiersberg had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.
The most dominating Seiersberg player was without a doubt
T. Zhelev.
However,
C. Piñero Yeste made a disastrous appearance.
Rappl-Speer's top performer was clearly
V. Milanov.
On the other hand,
R. Kendlbacher's play was disheartening.
The match ends 1 - 1.
